Portraits

Even though I took this photo in January, I keep revisiting it because I like it so much. I was talking to the subject of this photo about photography. He is a friend of mine, and he wanted to know a little bit more about taking photos. So I snapped a few photos to show him the flexibility you have with an SLR camera. I took it with a Canon XTi with a 50mm f/1.4 lens. Great focus on the eyes, and the bokeh is smooth. ISO 800, shutter speed is 1/80. It really grabbed the details of my subject's face. Anyhow, I love this photo and decided to post it.

As for my photography job, I am currently on a self-imposed hiatus because they have not been paying me. To think, a multi-million dollar newspaper not paying me for the past 5 photo jobs I've done for them! While I love shooting for them, I have decided to hold all future photo assignments from them until I at least receive one paycheck from them. I've been on their freelance "payroll" for about 4 months now and I have yet to receive a single penny from them even though they've ran several photos of mine in their publications. To boot, one of the stories they ran included a photo of mine, and no photo credit was given. FOR SHAME. That was strike one. Then the fact that no payment has been remitted to date was strike two. I didn't want to stick around for strike three. Metaphors aside, this newspaper co. is in dire straits financially. They own a profitable baseball club in town that is pending sale. If all goes through, maybe I'll get my first pay check....
